    La serie è ambientata nel XVIII secolo. I Poldark sono una famiglia della Cornovaglia, gentiluomini sempre in difficoltà. La buona sorte sembra esssere la loro nemica numero uno: morti, malattie, crisi economiche, problemi con la giustizia. Tuttavia l’ex capitano Poldark e sua moglie riescono ad andare avanti.
